Cataract Surgery

After Surgery Checklist:

• After Surgery: A patch will be placed over your eye after surgery, please leave the patch in place until it is removed by medical staff on Tuesday.

• No driving for 24 hours.

• No alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.

• After patch is removed (Day 1): Begin medication as directed.

• Week 1: DO NOT bend over, lift heavy objects or splash direct water on your face for at least 2 weeks post surgery. DO NOT rub your eyes. Wear a shield over the post-surgery eye while you sleep for at least 1 week. Come for your follow-up appointment 1 week after surgery.

• Week 2-4: Begin tapering drops by 1 drop a week or as directed.
(Example: Week 1: 4x a day - Week 2: 3x a day - Week 4: 1x a day)

• Call us with any of the following symptoms:

  • Worsening vision

  • Increase in pain or redness
